Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

For our first trip to Charleston, we planned a walking tour of the historic area. We would highly recommend this 2-hour walking tour with Oyster Point. We arrived for our tour at our scheduled time and were met by our guide (and owner), Bill Harris. On the steps of the US Customs House, we began was turned out to be a well-researched, factual presentation of the history of Charleston. The many topics Bill passionately and interestingly covered were the colonial period; antebellum commerce, architectural and lifestyle; the slave trade, and the rise of wealth and culture after the civil war; and religious and cultural diversity. Bill is engaging, funny and extremely knowledgeable about Charleston and the subjects he covers. He kept us engaged by asking us questions (an interesting twist). The two hours flew by and we would (and certainly will) contact Oyster Point again on our next visit.

Palmer's tour was fantastic. She's very informative, fun, and happy to go off script. I don't think there's a question she doesn't have the answer to. After the tour we looked at Charleston and it's architecture a bit differently having known the why's. Go for it!!!
