Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. I moved to Charleston from Washington, DC.some years ago. I had never taken a walking tour of the historic district so decided to do one last Saturday with my sister who is visiting from D.C. Bill was our guide and what an exceptional job he did. I have family ties to historic Charleston so know a fair amount about it but I learned so much on this tour. Bill laid out the progression of events in Charleston from the 1600's through the Civil War as if he were telling a story. He delved directly and honestly into the history of slavery here; something which is woefully lacking in Charleston but very much needs to be heard. I can't imagine a more engaging tour of Charleston and I highly recommend Oyster Point Historic Walking Tours.

Bill's tour was nothing shy of exceptional. Between his vast historical knowledge--of both Charlestonian and broader American history--and his engaging presentation of the tour's information, my girlfriend and I left confident that we had made the most of our last morning in Charleston. I highly recommend Oyster Point Historic Walking Tours for any sightseer seeking to optimize his/her enjoyment of Charleston's rich culture; the tour exposes both the physical and historical beauty that would go unnoted to the casual observer, instilling both an appreciation and education of one of America's most historically complex cities.

If you are looking for an informative tour about history with all kinds of detail from obscure to well known you might consider this tour. The guide is brilliantly knowledgeable about all topics Charleston, however it felt like a speech he has said 12452452 times already and like we were back in school. There was no time to stop for photos either; The tour guide was nice enough not overly friendly. I'm still giving the tour 4 stars because I think it was still amazing and some people would love it.
