Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

Coming from London in the UK and loving our history we were looking for someone with intimate knowledge and entertainment to guide us round downtown Charleston. We got everything and more besides from Palmer's history tour of Charleston. So much so we asked for a civil war tour. We got a private tour from Bill (Harris) which was beyond fascinating in terms of information, explanations and unbiased views of what occurred and why. Bill was so absorbing we cannot tell you how long the tour lasted but it was well beyond the two hours and to be honest we could have done another few hours. In summary both Palmer and Bill's tours were brilliant (thank you zero George hotel for the recommendation as they were not on any leaflets we picked up).

I've now taken tours with both Palmer and Bill. They make the city come alive with their knowledge of history, architecture, culture, and the people. A fantastically informative walking tour that doesn't sugarcoat the city's slave history either. Highly recommended.

This tour was fantastic. The guide was extremely knowledgeable about all of the sites we visited in historic Charleston, and the pacing was well-suited for a two-hour tour. We loved the guide's trivia questions, and felt that we were kept engaged throughout the tour. We highly recommend this tour to anyone coming to Charleston!
