Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

Booked the 2 hour Highlights of Charleston tour with Oyster Point and William (tour company owner?) was our guide. He was refreshingly frank about Charleston's history of slavery and its impact on the development of the area. He offered a unique perspective on the way the economy of the area developed (thrived and then cratered) but he seemed to like to hear himself talk more than showing all the sites of the area. Fortunately we had taken another walking tour with Charleston Footprints the day before so we didn't feel like we missed out on seeing things like the Nathaniel Lewis house, and the insides of both St. Michael's and St. Peter's church. William was very knowledgeable and recommend he offer more insightful tidbits - like details of the horticulture around the city - rather than waiting for people to ask questions. Overall I felt it was a worthwhile and insightful tour but if you are looking for just a 2 hour overview of the City than think the Charleston Footprints was better.

Bill was an amazing host. His grasp of the religious and historical points of interest during our walking tour managed to keep us engaged the entire way. Great way to learn more about Charleston.

We just returned from Charleston where we enjoyed a walking history tour with Bill. Our tour was 'Civil War and Secession' which has unfortunately been discontinued moving forward. It's a shame, because it was a great tour and a very interesting. I can't imagine a more knowledgable guide than Bill. He was excellent - very thorough and detailed history, yet interesting and open to questions. Next time we're back, I would definitely tour with this company again.
