Overview

The Bitterroot National Forest is an incredibly beautiful and rugged place with amazing mountains and deep glacial canyons. The trails are not always well maintained, and often times seasonal creeks will deter folks who aren't used to water crossings. You'll be glad you brought a guide along!

The hike and packraft float is an experience unique to Bitterroot Backpacking. You will not find any other guide or company providing this service! (And if you do, they probably found the idea here!)

Luke was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, hiking safety, and offered a lot of insight into the Montana area. He was beyond accommodating to our groups wants/ needs for our trip! We had to rearrange our plans due to the fires and he went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. Luke has all the tools for a safe backpacking trip as well as fun accessories. My Favorite experience that elevated our trip was the rafts to go floating on the lake for an afternoon! It was much needed after hiking for several days! Our group had a lot Of fun with him and will definitely be booking him again for future trips in Montana. Can’t say enough positive things about Luke! He’s the man for any type of outdoor activities in Montana!

Took a day trip to Grinnell Glacier, (in GNP), with Luke as my guide! He was knowledgeable, very well prepared and made my experience super unique by bringing pack rafts! We got to float around icebergs and afterwards Luke made us a nice lunch. He made sure to make the experience whatever I wanted by offering various spots to float in and allotted however much time I wanted for pictures and rest breaks. We even played a small game after eating our lunch. I appreciate that 0% of the day felt rushed. A wonderful one of a kind experience, would recommend to anyone.

Luke was an awesome guide! He found a wonderful hike for my husband and myself. Very knowledgeable about the area and throughly prepared. Would very highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!
