Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.

When out on our whale watching tour you will be in Icy Strait (body of water) You will get to see humpback whales (guaranteed!), sea lion, sea otter, and bald eagles. You even have the chance of seeing brown bear along the beaches, orcas and puffins flying by.

We have made multiple trips to Hoonah, Alaska. The tour operator we had used in the past retired and referred us to Hoonah Whale Tours. We had an excellent trip and saw lots of whale action. We like the small boat tours. The captain positioned the boat well so we could all take pictures. The boat was comfortable and great for taking pictures. We booked on the internet before we went on the cruise. All contact with them was pleasant and the pick up was exactly as they told us. We will use them again!

Absolutely the best day of the cruise. We was so glad we chose this excursion. Owner/Operator Captain Joardan showed us a wonderful time with personalized service. With a smaller group of 6 the boat is not crowded plenty of room to roam around,Great photo taking opportunity's,and restroom facility's. Joardan is a native of Hoonah and knows the area and has a network of other tour operators and fisherman so he get you on the whales.We talked to several other people on the cruise ship later in the week that had a whale watching excursion in Hoonah and went on a larger boat with 100 plus people and seen 2-3 whales. We seen 2 pods with 28-30 total whales watched them bubble feed,breach ECT for over an hour we was close enough to hear them blow and breath,and don't forget homemade blueberry muffins,Hot chocolate and Coffee definitely the way to go. We was picked up and dropped off at the cruise ship dock with option to be dropped off downtown, easy to find just look for the sign. We was back in plenty of time no worries on being late Joardan is very in-tune with the schedules.

What a day with had with Hoonah Whale Tour! Captain Joardan did a an amazing job getting us to see amazing wildlife! First we saw bald eagles, then a seal or two, and then ORCAS and bubble net feeding HUMPBACKS! WOW! We got to see juvenile orcas playing around in the water - AMAZING! And then we got to see the unique and not seen everywhere bubble net feeding twelve times!! AWESOME!!! To see those mouths open . . . OMGoodness!! The whole day was awesome, exciting and will forever be remembered because of Hoonah Whale Tour!! Maraiya (Capt. Joardan's wife) also made coffee and blueberry muffins for the guests. And she was so kind to help us book a bear tour after our whale watch tour (but in hindsight I would have rather gone out to see the whales again.) THANK YOU MARAIYA and CAPT. JOARDAN for the most amazing day ever!!!
