Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.

Hoonah Whale Tours

When out on our whale watching tour you will be in Icy Strait (body of water) You will get to see humpback whales (guaranteed!), sea lion, sea otter, and bald eagles. You even have the chance of seeing brown bear along the beaches, orcas and puffins flying by.

Booked off Juneau Shore Excursion site....best choice ever. We were pleasantly picked up right at the cruise ships dock and taken to Captain Jordans boat. His wife was friendly and gave us a history of Hoonah and the local feel. We embarked on a adventure....fantastic boat with many snacks (his wife even baked fresh blueberry muffins for us) and an even better Captain. August 19th (I think) saw many ( 6 to 8) humpbacks breaching and being very frisky,also saw porpoises and seals and lucky enough to follow a 2 pods of Orcas...1 pod was of 20 or so Orcas...AMAZING DAY. Thank you. Jordan was patient with the whales and because of it, he was able to get us the best views. He was able to get us up close and personal with the whales too. OUTSTANDING DAY. OUTSTANDING FAMILY. My husband, myself and our 13 year old son THANK YOU AGAIN.

We were looking for a smaller boat and found them on the internet. The 3 hour excursion was way beyond our expectations! We must have seen 15 or so whales along with sea otters and porpoises. I'd highly recommend them!

We went on a whale watching tour in early August. What an amazing trip. The boat provided a very smooth ride out to see the whales. There were 6 of us but plenty of room for all of us. Once out in the area of the whales we were able to move around the boat and enjoy the whales and the beautiful afternoon. The big advantage of being on a smaller boat was Jordan was able the reposition the boat as the whales moved around. With only six of us on the boat there was plenty of room for all of us to see, not fighting for position with a bunch of people other guests. One whale was so close that the picture I got was nothing but a close up of the whale. Saw a couple whales breach, one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska. Jordan and his lovely wife were delightful. Highly recommend their tours. And as everyone else has noted, the blueberry muffins are fantastic.
