Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.

When out on our whale watching tour you will be in Icy Strait (body of water) You will get to see humpback whales (guaranteed!), sea lion, sea otter, and bald eagles. You even have the chance of seeing brown bear along the beaches, orcas and puffins flying by.

What an experience! Saw a family of playful humpback whales, a bear on the shoreline, bald eagles, and a cute harbor seal. Jordan and his family are locals with lots of knowledge and stories. The homemade muffins, hot chocolate and coffee were a nice added bonus. Skip the big tour boats and book with Hoonah Whale Tours.

Our whale watching adventure was absolutely amazing! Jordan was wonderful and very knowledgeable. He captained us directly to a large pod of humpback whales and we got to see them for over an hour swim directly past our boat. The boat was very nice and clean. Jordan’s wife baked delicious blueberry muffins for our trip with fresh coffee. We are so happy we booked with Jordan and not through the cruise ship!!

Wonderful experience in Icy Strait Point! We saw many humpbacks, a few breaches, whales slapping the water, a mama bear with 2 cubs on the shoreline, a few otters and a big group of sea lions. My young boys keep asking to go back and said it was by far their favorite excursion on our Alaskan cruise. We specifically were looking for a smaller boat tour than what was offered with the cruise lines for a more personable experience, and Hoonah Whale Tours did not disappoint!
