What To Expect

Black Hills National Forest

Once the balloon is ready, you’ll gently take to the skies for an approximate 1-hour flight over the Black Hills National Forest. If you are new to ballooning, you’ll be surprised at the silence and serenity you’ll find high above the treetops. It’s truly magical. Upon landing, the ground crew will pack the balloon while you and your pilot celebrate the flight with complimentary champagne, light snacks and a story about the origin of hot air ballooning. Flights depart at sunrise and are weather dependent and always at the discretion of your experienced pilot.

Cancellation Policy

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Our balloon ride was a fantastic experience! We saw the Black Hills of South Dakota in a whole new perspective. The pilot was fun and entertaining! My wife and I recommend this adventure to people of all ages!

We did this tour in July 2022 (wasn't an option to list here) and it was truly breathtaking! Our original date for our balloon ride was pushed back to the end of our week we were in South Dakota due to the weather. But getting up really early to be able to be in the field and watch them set up the balloons (there was 3 of them) was amazing to watch. And there is no words for floating over the scenic Black Hills. Worth all the effort!!

What a wonderful and memorable experience! The booking process was easy & seamless and the pre-flight communication helpful and clear. Damien was friendly and very professional. Our pilot Mike with 26 years of experience was a fountain of great stories and was in total control throughout the flight. My wife and I had a great time vacationing in SD, but our flight with Black Hills Balloons was by far the highlight of the trip!
