What To Expect

Black Hills National Forest

Once the balloon is ready, you’ll gently take to the skies for an approximate 1-hour flight over the Black Hills National Forest. If you are new to ballooning, you’ll be surprised at the silence and serenity you’ll find high above the treetops. It’s truly magical. Upon landing, the ground crew will pack the balloon while you and your pilot celebrate the flight with complimentary champagne, light snacks and a story about the origin of hot air ballooning. Flights depart at sunrise and are weather dependent and always at the discretion of your experienced pilot.

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

I went on my first hot air balloon ride with Damien and 9 other folks (it was a big basket) at the Hot Springs, SD, balloon festival on 8/24/19. Weather was perfect. The other passengers were a lot of fun. Damien was excellent in giving instructions, and also making it fun! Riding in a hot air balloon was on my bucket list, and so was going to a balloon festival. Checked those 2 on my list! If you are in the Black Hills area and want a ride, give this group a call because their balloons and crews are A+.

The two pilots were wonderful, entertaining and funny. My husband and I along with a good friend of ours went up in the early hours just after dawn and it was magical. We were thrilled, entertained and delighted all at the same time. Thank you so much, Black Hills Balloons for a great time.

We had a wonderful experience! It was absolutely beautiful and would highly recommend Black Hills Balloons. The pilot and crew were fantastic and made us feel safe as this was our first balloon ride...and the pilot added in some humor for good measure through out the flight. The crew even took pictures for our family before take off. The ride lasted approximately 45 minutes in the air and the views were stunning. My only dislike is paying an adult price for kids over 12.
