This was a nice boat ride through a very pretty part of the Hudson River. The narration was interesting but nothing special. I enjoyed the trip, and would recommend it if you are in the area, but I would not go far out of my way to do it. Maybe I have a pampered derriere, but after two hours on the hard wooden benches my backside was begging for mercy. There are some plastic seats on the boat and you might consider grabbing one of those if you go on this ride. There were a lot of seniors on this cruise and I did hear some of them make similar remarks. Note: Don't park at the meters along the waterfront. There is a parking area for the boat with limited free parking (get there early), and also a larger free public lot nearby.

The two hour cruise was exactly long enough to relax and enjoy the beautiful views along the shores of the Hudson River. The narration is interesting and standing out the back of the ground level deck was just perfect - no wind and such an opportunity to take photos of the changing colors of the trees and enough time to try out various settings. I bought a nice photo as a memory and I am really glad my friend and I took the time to go on the Rip Van Winkle while we were in the area.

A very relaxing and extremely pleasant ride down the Hudson River, A trip to the Kingston area is not complete unless you ride the "Rip Van Winkle" from the Rondout in Kingston. The food and drink is comparable to any attraction and is ok. The boat is comfortable with open air or inside seating.
