What To Expect

Illuminarium Atlanta

Illuminarium Atlanta offers a family-friendly experience during the day and transforms in the evenings into Illuminarium After Dark, an adults-only nightlife venue. It’s the perfect destination for celebrations of all kinds including birthdays, social groups, field trips and more. There are currently 2 shows operating during the day: Waking Wonderland and SPACE: A Journey to the Moon & Beyond. Illuminarium Atlanta is located along the Eastside Trail of the Atlanta BeltLine.

Had a great time here! The visuals and sounds were amazing and the timing is just right (about 45 minutes). You have to realize this is projection technology which some people were complaining about but as long as you going into it knowing that it’s great. I highly recommend getting there early (before 11am) for parking otherwise you won’t find a spot because you are competing with other restaurants too. DO NOT buy the snack deal! We spent $10 just for a brownie and a sprite. Total waste of money. If you got a snack and drink, that might be better. I also got the guidebook, which was nicely done, but not worth the extra $. I would just buy the $35 base ticket. The guidebook should be included in that price. Overall I would go again, and it’s great for children, but as an adult who loves animals it was fabulous!

This is just a slideshow, like a National Geographic. NOT 3D at all. They just use ceiling projection , very outdated technology. You stand up for 45 minutes looking at slideshow, some of them not great resolution, some are good. You can go to a movie theater if you want a big screen and it will only cost you $8.95 instead of the addmission price of $40. All the people we talked to walking out of the show were very very disappointed, us included. You should save your money and buy your kids an Occulus 2. then you will experience TRUE Immersive Technology.

This is definitely the coolest new attraction in Atlanta! When they call it "immersive," they really mean it - the combination of the the crisp projection, the floor actually vibrating as an elephant walks past (what?!), and the insane speaker system makes you feel like you actually walked off the beltline, went through a door, and landed on an African Safari. I'm definitely coming back with my nieces, who would LOVE this! The Shop is also incredible - the woven baskets are beautiful
