BIGHORN SHEEP CANYON

Floating past spectacular geological formations and views of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range as you run exciting Class II-III rapids. This trip is suitable for first timers or experienced rafters with great views and lots of adventure. You will run the best 10 miles of whitewater in Bighorn Sheep Canyon and perfect for families, groups or individuals looking to experience whitewater rafting in Colorado for the first time or tenth time. Great views and adventure! 2 to 3 hours on the water. This is the only trip that can start out of either of our locations.

What To Expect

Arkansas River Tours

You will meet at our office and check in with our friendly office staff, meet your guide, get outfitted with the proper rafting equipment, go through and in depth safety orientation and then hop on a van or bus for a 25-30 drive to the river put int

Arkansas River

Once you arrive at the put in you will be given specific instructions by your guide and then you are off for an adventure of a life time! You will spend 2-2.5 hours on the water running great whitewater and viewing amazing Colorado scenery.

This was a Christmas present for our Grandchildren ages 8 and 10. They were nervous at first but soon got into it. I think the paddle high fives did the trick. By the end they were totally enjoying the trip. We did a full day trip which included a lunch on the rivers shore. It was excellent with lots of condiments for our sandwiches. Marshal was excellent in relating stories about the area, geology and previous rafting experiences. He also did a great job reassuring the kids and engaging with them...maybe its because he's a kid himself, sorry Mars. When we got back to their parents the kids said they would only do another raft trip if it was class 3 and 4...no 2s.

This was my 8th rafting trip in Colorado since 1995. I’ve also done 3 in New Mexico in that time. This was by far the best rafting adventure I’ve had. I can’t recommend Arkansas River Tours (ART) enough. It starts with location. Just minutes outside Canon City with easy access off HHWY 50. Friendly staff greet you as you enter the clean facility. Rafts and equipment were the best I’ve been offered too. Best part of rafting with ART is the guides. They’re funny, energetic, and lead the rafters in silly chants to get everyone amped up. Our guide, Amanda, was awesome. The BEST guide I’ve had in ALL my trips. She’s funny - corny jokes and all. Amanda’s also a knowledgeable and skilled guide. Had a blast and my 17 year old son smiled the whole time. Thanks Amanda and ART. We will be back. Trust me, choose Arkansas River Tours. You will be stoked you did. Corey Pellét
