We were excited to arrive and get a "real" look into history, but what we got was a white-washed version with only the positive pieces of the Jamestown settlement. There was little to no recognition of the impact on our culture and country by the first arrival of "indentured servants" from West African countries. There was also virtually no mention of the effects of colonization on Native American populations. Very patriotic, but definitely not the whole story.

It was Awesome!!!! A new experience from years ago!!!!! Love the displays and I did see some history that was not in the history books from school. Was a little disappointed that I couldn't take my own pictures so I could include Me!!!!

We tend to be history snobs and weren’t expecting much from a recreation site, but it was extremely informative to see the boats in person and get a real sense of their size. It was cool to see the Indian village and wander among the huts and see the craftsmen at work. Also neat to wander the mini settlement and see what the houses looked like in constructed form. Meanwhile, the character actors/people who work there are amaaaaazing! We learned so much from the youngsters in the Indian village plying their crafts. The sailors were so informative about their boats. And the navigator/mariner speaker was phenomenal. So great for all of us!!
