Explore a remote national park less than an hour's drive from the lush resorts of greater Palm Springs. Wonder at the otherworldly plants and rock formations in a unique, and wild desert setting. THIS IS A RUGGED, 4x4 ONLY TRAIL. For those wanting a smoother experience and to see more of the park highlights please consider our Joshua Tree Driving/Van Tour. We don't recommend it for anyone with any back injuries, with any neck injuries, anyone that is pregnant or gets car sick easily. Age limit is 6 years old. This is group tour.
This activity has a 2 person requirement for the tour to run. If you are a single rider, please call first.

We had a really fun experience on this tour. A great way to see parts of Joshua Tree that would otherwise be inaccessible. Our driver, Ed, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable about the area and all the plants and wildlife and able to answer all of the curious questions from our young children. He was also an experienced driver so we felt very safe. It IS a rough ride as it is off-roading, of course. Our children said it was the highlight of their trip to Palm Springs.

Captain Ron picked us up at our B&B. He was a font of interesting information on the drive out and during the tour and two perfectly selected short hikes. Half day was not enough to see this stunning park. Ron gave us great advice for next day hikes in the area. The experience was a once in a lifetime!

My husband and I were lucky to have Isabel as our guide on a Sunday morning in March. It was just the two of us. Isabel was a fountain of knowledge about the history, geology and folk lore of Joshua Tree and the surrounding Palm Springs area. She took us to the Keyes overlook first, before the crowds. We backtracked to the Garden of the Gods where she took us on an easy but adventurous scramble up a less traveled big boulder trail with spectacular views. Isabel took time at the beginning to get to know what we wanted to do and see while in the park, and made excellent suggestions based on our preferences. She was so fun and personable. We would take Big Wheel again and recommend it while you are in Palm Springs.
