My wife and I just got back from Alaska. One of the many high lights of our trip was the 4.5 Hr. whale watching tour furnished by Harv & Marv's. This is a small boat tour, boat is about 30 ft. long with inside seating for 8 - 10 passengers. There is plenty of viewing space on the stern of the boat and additional space on the bow .Our day started out with Hotel pick up and van transportation to the boat. While driving, we saw at least 25 - 30 Bald Eagles all gathered in the same spot, which is pretty unusual. After departing the little marina we cruised for about 30 minutes on a mirror like bay. The first 1.5 hours of looking for whales was pretty lean on whale viewing. Our GREAT young captain decided to leave the area where most of the other boats were and head out to look for something better. After abiu a 15 minute ride he spotted a spout and headed to it. After a very short time 2 whales appeared off our stern, then 3 appeared off the port side and then 2 more off the bow. We were able to see 7 whales at one time, Diving, tail flaps, lunge feeding. We were there for about 1 hour then the rest of the whale watching fleet finally found us in between a small island and the shoreline. We saw so many whales in such a short period of time I actually got a neck ache from spinning my head around to see all the whales. Thanks a million to our young captain. Without his expertise we may not of had such a great trip. Thanks Harv & Marv's.
