We were on the Alaskan (34' boat) with 12 pasengers total, along with Gabe the captain and Regina the naturalist a week ago.Best.Day.Ever! We had great weather, and although the bay was pretty bouncy, the boat felt very stable. We saw sea lions, a pod of orcas, and several humpbacks, including one that came up and flipped its tail about 20 feet from our boat! Even Gabe and Regina were impressed. It was a very efficient operation from the time we were picked up to when we were returned to the ship. It sure didn't seem like a "3 hour tour," wished we could have hopped on the next one, too.

We had a day in Juneau on our recent Alaska cruise and were able to have a small boat whale watching tour. We were picked up at our ship and taken to the marina where Drew our naturalist walked us out to the boat and we met Gabe our captain. There were 13 of us on the boat - windows all around and room to stand out front and back (outside only when the boat is still or moving slowly) Plenty of room for taking pictures or just absorbing the moment. We had barely cleared the 5 mph sign at the marina entrance when we found 2 orcas feeding and playing in the water - it was so amazing to watch! We spent about 30 minutes or so with them and then moved on to see many humpbacks as well and of course the Stellar sea lions fighting over the buoy near the lighthouse. Drew taught us along the way and answered all our questions. Gabe kept in touch with other boats to maximize our view possibilities. It was such a memorable day!

Had a great time on the water with Regina and Gabe. Saw whales, porpoises, sea lions ... Regina and Gabe were professional, informative, and friendly. Had 8 on board ... very nice ... didn't miss the larger, crowded boats.Though not associated with Princess, everything went smoothly from pickup to return. No doubt they would be well aware of departure time and you would not miss the boat. Friends booked a glacier tour with a company with no Princess affiliation ... late return ... luckily boat waited a bit for them.
