Waimea

This old seaport was the first landing site of European explorers. Today, it is home to the island’s last sugar plantation and located in the backyard of high-tech companies and small businesses.

Waimea Canyon State Park

Known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, this natural wonder was carved out by the Waimea River and the collapse of a volcano. The rich colors of the red soil and the lush greenery are a spectacular site to see.

Enjoyed the descriptions by the driver. Very personable and knowledgeable. Hard to describe all of the beauty of the canyon. Took many pictures, but they do not do justice to what we saw. .

The canyon is beautiful as is the whole island but our guide Tino was hard to put up with. He talked way too much about himself and his family and had an arrogant attitude.
