In order to book this tour basic swimming skills & previous snorkeling experience are required. Guest's must be able to swim a short distance to our snorkel board & independently climb up a side boat ladder. Our Manta Policy: Manta Rays are wild animals and Hawaii Island and Ocean Tours cannot guarantee their presence. If a manta ray is not seen on your night out with us you may try again on a different night, or on your next visit. Guests who purchased tickets at our full online booking price may come back out again for free. Tickets purchased through a 3rd party (such as TripAdvisor/Viator/Expedia...etc) or at a discounted rate may join again for an additional $30 per person. Please keep in mind that seats may be extremely limited during certain times of the year. We usually are very successful in finding mantas for you; however if they decide to take the night off the costs involved with setting up the charter will not allow us to offer you a refund. We appreciate your business and understanding of this policy.

What a fantastic night adventure! First of all, we (my husband and our 12-year-old daughter and 15-year-old son) were all tired as we have been going strong for a week straight, so the thought of a 7:40 p.m. start for an hour and half excursion (which was an hour away from where our rental house was ... and the weather looked sketchy) was a little less than exciting. With that said, OMGosh, I am so happy we persevered and had this experience. The manta rays literally come within inches of you...they literally brushed against me several times; they are actually super soft/smooth. They are huge, but they really are gentle giants. On another note, I loved that it was a small group (our family of 4, and a very sweet older couple from Texas). I am all about family adventure travel / excursions .... this is one to experience!

Fantastic experience. The entire staff from start to end were attentive, friendly, and helpful. The experience of seeing the actual Manta Ray was incredibly - larger and more elegant than I ever thought. Post diving, they offer some small snacks and drinks to warm you up before wrapping up. Do note, several members of my group got motion sickness at the end of the dive. If you're prone to motion sickness, I'd advise taking some medication prior. My only con is - we did not actually get scheduled for the time we paid for (we booked a 7pm, but was assigned a 9pm slot).

I agree that taking a medication, or ginger substitute, prior to doing a night snorkel can help combat motion sickness one may have. Our apologies we were not able to get your party out at an earlier time. Because of the Spring Break Holiday all of the early tours had filled up. For those reading and interested in doing a private manta ray snorkel or with a large group (up to 6 guests) please feel free to call us directly versus booking online to get the most accurate tour availability.
