Our Manta Policy: Manta Rays are wild animals and Hawaii Island and Ocean Tours cannot guarantee their presence. If a manta ray is not seen on your night out with us you may try again on a different night, or on your next visit. Guests who purchased tickets at our full online booking price may come back out again for free. Tickets purchased through a 3rd party (such as TripAdvisor/Viator/Expedia...etc) or at a discounted rate may join again for an additional $30 per person. Please keep in mind that seats may be extremely limited during certain times of the year. We usually are very successful in finding mantas for you; however if they decide to take the night off the costs involved with setting up the charter will not allow us to offer you a refund. We appreciate your business and understanding of this policy.

I highly recommend this activity and H.I.O.T. We had several manta rays that are nearly the size of a small car swim right up to us. The whole trip is very well choreographed so once you check-in, put on a wet suit and store belongings in a bin at the dock, it is a three-minute boat ride to the snorkel spot, 25 minutes in the water and a short boat ride back. We thought 25-30 minutes in the water was enough and our guides knew where to position so you see maximum manta rays. They were also informative and knew the animals by name. This was a highlight of our trip.

We absolutely loved this night snorkel with Mantas! They are huge, gentle and beautiful creatures and will swim inches away from you. (They don’t have a stinger, so don’t worry about that!) we loved going with this tour because the boat ride is literally less that five minutes and then you’re out there with the Mantas for a good 45 minutes. They also limit it to six people per boat, which is much better than the larger outfits who take out 35 people at a time. The crew was awesome, local, and very helpful and knowledgeable. Knee length wetsuits are provided for each person, and they give you some snacks and hot chocolate afterwards. Their tours times continue until 11 pm, which is great because that’s after the larger groups have stopped and you have the mantas more concentrated to where you are. We saw six Mantas during our tour, and two of them danced and gracefully somersaulted underneath us for a good ten minutes! Amazing!! They have a crew member in the water with you at all times, and also some crew members stationed on a platform nearby, as well as one in the boat that takes you to the snorkel area. My only suggestion is to be sure and get a mask that fits you well. Mine leaked a bit. Have them help you pick one out, if needed. You’re very safe and buoyant in the water, with your wetsuit and also a swim noodle they give you to put under your waist/hips. So, don’t be afraid and just do it!! Be prepared for the Mantas to get VERY close to you. It is THRILLING! They are just so graceful, gentle and beautiful!!

Hunter was super awesome, helpful and energetic. The guides were great too. Prior to getting on the boat, Hunter and his lovely assistant provided snacks, wear suits, snorkel gear, and totes to stash our belongings. After the tour they provided hot coacoa and answered all our questions about the rays. Our tour happened to be a little early and choppy. Non the less we saw two or thee rays, and it’s like no other!! Majestic! Manta Rays are so cool! These guys with us, were locally awesome! I would suggest a tour when it’s past sunset. I think we would have saw more rays then, but still super cool. You’ve got to do it at least once! It’s unforgettable!
