Manta Rays were awe-inspiring! Everyone from Hawaii Island & Ocean Tours was great. Sam was pleasant on the phone, helping to accommodate my flight crew's last minute decision to do a night snorkel on our layover in KOA. Hunter was friendly helping us get signed up & get our gear (take advantage of the shortie wetsuit... there are fresh cold springs dumping into the bay and night snorkeling can be chilly). Captain Jon was nice and Ola was great in the water. Simple concept- get a boat, go out to the paddle board fitted with lights and rope, get a noodle, jump in and watch the show. I would have liked to watch longer, but it was pretty adequately timed out. Ola had a good deal of knowledge about the breed of fish, telling us their names and tendencies. Other boats were in the water w/ people trying to watch the manta rays, too, but Ola seemed to know how to keep the plankton stirred up near us so they wanted to hang out near us. Needless to say, we were amazed and delighted! We'll definitely tell our friends and co-workers!

We had an AMAZING trip, Two actually! Frist we did a night manta ray snorkle and saw several and one came right up to us and touched my son and I!! Then as an added bonus we also got to see a rare white tip tiger shark swim along the sea floor right beneath us. No worries there was no danger. It was very cool. The next morning we did an incredible snorkle, history and cave tour. Must say though the absolute highlight was a pod of spinner dolphins that graced us with their presence. Mostly due because of our intuitive and knowledgeable captain who knows where and when they hang, how they behave and why. We were even treated to a blushing new baby who was joyful trying out her spinning skills! It was awe inspiring and heart melting! All of the staff from making reservations, to the captians, and crew were knowledgeable, persobanle, responsible and obviously dedicated to their craft, and making your experience the best they can. We wish the all the very best, they truly made our experience head and shoulders above our expectations! You guys rock! Mahalo!

This was one of the highlights of our trip! Seeing the Manta Rays up close is a one of a kind experience, and we were so happy we did it. In the Kona Manta Ray Snorkeling scene, most companies take ~12 people, with some taking groups of over 20 people. Hawaii Island & Ocean Tours limits their groups to 6 people. Why? It's better for the animals, and it makes the experience way better for their clients. Use this tour company for Manta Snorkeling. They do the little things well (hot drinks when you come out of the water), and they do the big things well (they love and protect the wildlife they take you to see).
