What To Expect
1
Kenai Fjords National Park
In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.
2
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge is comprised of 2,400 islands, headlands, rocks, islets, spires and reefs and is known for its abundance of seabirds.

Captain Steve and crew went above and beyond to make sure we had a great visit to the park. We were so lucky to have amazing weather and the chance to see orca and humpbacks. Captain Steve went out of his way to make sure we saw everything the area has to offer, all with great narration.

My 12 year old grandson and I visited Alaska for the first time in June. I did a lot of research in preparation for our trip and had selected this cruise. It did not disappoint! It was a bright, sunny day, and the wildlife was abundant. We say killer and humpback whales, harbor seals, sea lions, sea otters and a Dall's porpoise, as well as puffins and bald eagles. The boat's captain was excellent at spotting wildlife! It was also an incredible experience to see a glacier so close, especially the experience of seeing the glacier calving. The crew was very friendly and helpful. The boat was very comfortable and offered plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I would definitely recommend this excursion!

This was excellent from start to finish. The boat was comfortable and viewing was easy from inside as well as in the fresh air (although it was a little damp outside at times!!!).....dress in layers, have at least waterproof coat and a hat/gloves if you plan to stay outside. The captain was good at directing our attention to wildlife etc and when there was something special to see, he stopped the boat so we could get a closer look and take photographs (bring binoculars if you have them). He also gave interesting information. The crew were very friendly, helpful and attentive especially when the journey became somewhat rocky and a few people felt unwell (thankfully we were fine). The lunch consisted of a wrap (my only criticism....too much lettuce in the wrap, lol), oat bar, small chocolate mint and a packet of crisps/chips. Fresh fruit was also available and a chocolate chip cookie towards the end of the cruise. For us, the 2 highlights were the waterfall (new experience to have a shower while fully clothed!!) and of course the glacier.....amazing!! It (obligingly) calved several times.....that sound has got to be heard!! A crew member scoopped some of the ice flow and it was served in drinks. Like everything in Alaska (as we have discovered), this tour isn't cheap but it was worth it and we enjoyed every second.
