What To Expect
1
Kenai Fjords National Park
In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.
2
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge is comprised of 2,400 islands, headlands, rocks, islets, spires and reefs and is known for its abundance of seabirds.

Captain Steve should be a narrator for the National Geographic Channel. We enjoyed this tour a great deal. Seas were very mild and the mid May sunny day was wonderful. The ship was a large catamaran that if not new was newly painted and was fast yet smooth on the mild 2-3 foot swells. Overall it was a great experience. There were about 95 passengers onboard and everyone had a good seat if they wanted one but most stood for much of the voyage when we were moving slow or observing wildlife nearby. We saw amazing scenery, large, calving glaciers, several humpback whales, dozens of sunning sea lions, a few bald eagles and countless other birds etc. We also saw two bears. Captain Steve did a fantastic job narrating during much of the trip and positioning the ship where everyone had a chance for good photos and viewing. The attending crew did a very good job also keeping a check on everyone, serving lunch, safety brief and even bringing a pretty large chunk of glacier ice onboard for photo ops. The chicken wrap and snack lunch was served on the initial ride out and was tasty. Other options including coffee, soft drinks, hot chocolate and other choices for sale. 3 onboard bathrooms (heads) were very clean and well maintained. The entire route was very scenic and very enjoyable. The boat has two decks, each providing plenty of outside and inside viewing space. Some seating was available outside in the rear but most is inside and comfortable. We would definitely recommend this tour and company.

We did 2 tours with KF. The first Natl Park tour is the 6 hour tour. The weather was pretty lousy and they were warning people that there might be some rough water. I was worried that they would cancel or shorten the trip but the captain gave us the works tour going by all of the glaciers starting with the Aialik Glacier and then Holgate, too. My wife and I are experienced boaters so the rough seas weren't an issue but there were some passengers who got seasick. They weren't kidding about the 15' swells. The catamaran hull went right on through but was a bit of a bumpy ride. We got to see a nice Orca pod and sea otters and puffins. We also did the 4 hour whale tour and saw some whale tails and more Orcas, and big sea lions. Thanks Captain Steve!

Awesome tour! We did this 6 hour tour, leaving at 11:30 am. All of the tour guides/workers on the boat were super helpful and kind. The tour was so fun and we were blessed to experience gorgeous weather on this day. We saw 3 humpback whales, sea lions, otters, eagles, mountain goats and even a bear up on the shore. We went up close (about a half mile away, which feels very close) to Aialik Glacier, which was much more neat than I expected. The enormity of it is mind-blowing. We could see seals on the ice in the distance. The glacier was very active with calving while we were there, which is a crazy thing to see/hear! There was gorgeous scenery the entire ride, even when we were not seeing the glacier and wildlife, so be assured that it will be an awesome tour even if you don't have the opportunity to see much wildlife!
