What To Expect
1
Kenai Fjords National Park
In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.
2
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge is comprised of 2,400 islands, headlands, rocks, islets, spires and reefs and is known for its abundance of seabirds.

Nice 6 hour tour. The boat ride was nice in the bays, however rougher open water contributed to at least 7 passengers being sea sick. Also the weather was cooler and misty all day, so bring warm clothes. The Captain did great in finding sea life: Whales, Orca, Sea Lion Puffin and Dolphin, no land creatures this trip. Which was nice, now I do not have to go on a puffin or whale tour. Also I suggest bringing your own food. My only negative was the FOOD, probably the WORST I've had offered on excursions. A tasteless, store bought tortilla and chicken wrap. so dry. For a trip costing $220 a person, (tax, fees and extra gas surcharge) I expected better. Oh, if you expecting to see a lot of glaciers, this is not the trip for you. We saw 1 main site with 2 to its left and that's all. This was a 1 and done trip, no repeat needed.

The trip was really great - we saw lots of wildlife and beautiful scenery. We got to see 6 orcas, a humpback, seals, sea lions, puffins, bald eagles. They take you up close to a glacier and bring in ice for everyone to hold and take pictures with. Lunch was decent - chicken wrap for adults or a hummus option for vegetarians and chicken nuggets for kids. Snack bar is also pretty good and has many options for candy and snacks. The only downside is that the cruise can be pretty long for kids. Most kids were napping so i would recommend bringing something to do during the parts where you are just cruising over the open ocean. They sell cards in the boat. Also, grab a seat inside! That wast you can move about inside and outside but it gets cold by the glacier and you always run into rain in Alaska!
