What To Expect
1
Kenai Fjords National Park
In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.
2
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge is comprised of 2,400 islands, headlands, rocks, islets, spires and reefs and is known for its abundance of seabirds.

The building is right along the water (literally across the street from the train station). Walked across and got in line to get tickets/check in. It was all a pretty quick process, got on the boat. They reserve a table for your party. Lunch was included (We're veg and the sandwich was pretty good!) . You can also get small snacks if you want. The experience was great, of course the views are beautiful! The glaciers you see are amazing, the wildlife (puffins are so cute!). Staff was great, you could tell they are experts and I felt safe the entire time. Would highly recommend doing this if you have time!

The boat and the crew were great. They can’t control what wildlife will appear but we saw humpback whales twice. Incredible glacier segments breaking off into water. Seals, sea lions, a bear, bald eagle, and puffins. Pretty smooth except for early part of trip in open ocean, where some folks got sea sick the crew was great about passing out bags and giving ginger ale. The only thing not good was lunch which was said to be a chicken wrap sandwich, but basically was an iceberg lettuce wrap where you’d pour salad dressing on it. If there was one ounce of chicken in there, I’d be surprised. But it was fresh.

I got a good video of the ice breaking off. I also liked how the captain gave out fun facts and the history around Seward. Everyone was very nice and lunch was also handed out nicely.
