What To Expect
1
Kenai Fjords National Park
In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.
2
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge is comprised of 2,400 islands, headlands, rocks, islets, spires and reefs and is known for its abundance of seabirds.

If you’re thinking about doing this—DO!! While a lot of the experience is weather dependent (seeing different wildlife, glaciers, calm seas), it is a great (and fun!) way to get out in nature. We were blessed with calm seas and sunny skies, which allowed us to see humpbacks and orca whales, puffins, seals and sea lions, different types of birds, and incredible glaciers. Our captain got us very close to all of the above and the photos we were able to capture will be with us for a lifetime. The crew was very friendly and informative, the lunch (a chicken Caesar wrap) was delicious, the the indoor seating was comfortable. Highly recommend!

We went out on the 8AM, 6 hours. We did see otters, birds, whales, orcas, seals. The weather was cloudy, misty, cold. We had to sit outside pretty much the entire time. It was so cold out there. I would go inside either upstairs or downstairs and just stand. Not one person would offer a seat that were empty in their section. They wouldnt remove their bags. I finally found a place with 3 seats. I sat for awhile. 2 guys came and sat on other side, which I did find out was their bags. They kept staring at me. I finally ask was someone sitting here. I was told yes, that I needed to move. The disrespect from people on that boat was awful. I would look for a smaller boat to go out on. If you do go on this.......put your stuff down in a inside seat first. Than go back and forth for inside/outside. Kenai Fjords needs to figure out a better situation for seating.
