What To Expect

Kenai Fjords National Park

In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.

Rough weather and rough ride. We were given options, and since I was there I decided to go and experience what I could of Alaska. Despite the less than optimal weather, the trip was still amazing and there was more than enough natural beauty to make this trip worth while!

We had absolutely stunning view over the glaciers, the sea lions , etc. This is a family friendly trip, & you can give it a shot.

This was a wonderful trip. though with a marine advisory of rough seas. The ship was well prepared and attentive to those with motion sickness, when we approached the ocean and the Captain had excellent control of the ship. We stopped at various points to see elusive whales, too quick to capture on a camera. We saw 3 kinds of whales, a humpback, some orcas, and a mother and calf. We saw a sea otter and seals. We saw multiple glaciers, waterfalls, and we went around fjords in Resurrection Bay that were carved out by glaciers. A beautiful trip.
