NASA Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

Your Kennedy Space Center tour begins after an approximate 45-minute drive from Orlando. From the Visitor Complex, view rockets from all eras of space exploration in the Rocket Garden, and see an actual Gemini program capsule on display in Early Space Exploration. Walk beneath a massive Saturn V rocket, one of the most powerful ever built, at the Apollo/Saturn V Center and relive Neil Armstrong's first steps on the moon and experience the thunderous rumble of a rocket lift-off! Continue with two IMAX space movies viewed on five-story screens – IMAX® A Beautiful Planet and Journey To Space 3D, which takes you on a virtual trip to the International Space Station. Check out the Astronaut Encounter to hear actual astronauts discuss their experiences and get photos of these heroes.

Space Shuttle Atlantis

Don't miss the Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit, where more than 60 interactive experiences highlight the people, passion and patriotism behind NASA’s Space Shuttle program, which launched the Hubble Space Telescope and built the International Space Station. See what it's like to be a real astronaut! Take the helm at the shuttle cockpit; experience the sensation of floating in space; explore a replica of the ISS; and experience the sights, sounds and sensations of a shuttle launch! Visit the impressive Rocket Garden, featuring the first rocket to break free from gravity, and honor NASA’s fallen heroes at the 'Heroes and Legends' exhibit featuring the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame®. Then learn more about what it takes to explore Mars at Journey to Mars: Explorers Wanted. Finish your day by boarding a full-size Space Shuttle mock-up and strap in for a virtual launch into space on the Shuttle Launch Experience. This was a trip well worth doing. Educational and fun for both kids and adults. The tour guide was friendly and helpful and the transport comfortable and convenient as you are picked up and dropped off at your hotel. The timeline for a full day trip was spot on. Don't forget when you get to the Kennedy Space Centre that you include the inside shuttle bus tour of the operating centres and launch sites on-site as this wasn't terribly obvious on their brochure that you collect indoors. We missed it, sticking to the facilities on the primary site. Also check if there is a rocket launch when you are there as they are very discreit about it, and we heard it but were very disappointed not to see it. I wouldn't hesitate to do this tour again if we are ever lucky enough to visit Orlando in the future.

The day would have been excellent but was spoiled at the start as we were at the meeting place where we were advised to get the bus but the driver did not check my ticket and told us to take a seat on the bus and we made an assumption that the bus was the correct one for the tour (as it was the only one in the carpark) but after collecting other people from other resorts and 1 hour later he then gave the travellers the itineray, we were on the wrong tour!!!! After much phone calls and no communication we were told another driver would be meeting us at a petrol station and would take us to Kennedy Space Centre. So we did get there but were late and therefore missed a part of the tour we wanted to see. So my advice is check with drivers that you are on the correct tour before leaving (even if there is no other bus!!) Also our tour needed to be longer by at least an hour to give you a bit more time after the lunch.

Wow is all i can say such an informative and educational day. Loved every minute of this tour from our pick up to our drop off. Had a great day a must for everyone.
