Luau Kalamaku with Buffet Dinner & Show

Overview
Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. The 45-minute main show tells the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamaku “child of the new land." Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The theatrical luau show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing.

Kauai is heaven on earth. Don't waste a second of your time or money coming to this "luau". It is very expensive ($100 for adults, $60 for kids) and the food is disgusting. Once inside, you get to spend more of your money. $35 Henna Tattoo. $25 box of caramel. And the train ride costs like $15 per person. Or your $100 gets you a terrible mixed drink using cheap canned juice or from the fountain gun, and crappy cheap booze. The bartenders are so pissed off an rude they make the drinks in record time and throw them at you. On an island with the best fruit, they use canned juice. There is no effort on their part in to what they serve you. It is all garbage. The food is not edible. It is the equivalent of going to Hometown Buffet, but worse, much much worse. At one point they walk around with a fake pig in an effort to make you believe that the pork you are getting is fresh. It is not. It is a show pig. I have no idea why this place gets so many good reviews. There is nothing authentic about this luau. The show was fine, but by the time it happens you are just mad that you spent so much money that you just want to leave. Everything is an up-sell once you are in. Save your money. DON'T WASTE IT HERE!

Went to the Luau Kalamaku last night with 700 plus ship mates from NCL PRIDE of America! The venue was beautiful and we really enjoyed the train tour of the plantation. The guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. The main event was fantastic! Loved the show and the history being relayed through it!

We booked for our two teenage daughters since we had gone on our previous trip. We were a little unsure what they’d think, but very quickly the text messages reported they were having a fabulous time. It was their top Kauai experience.
