Overview

Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. The 45-minute main show tells the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamaku “child of the new land." Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The theatrical luau show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing.

My family did the Luau with dinner and the train ride. It was all so wonderful! My adult daughters were thrilled to receive leis upon arrival. We boarded the train and off we went for 40 minutes around the plantation. Then back to the open bar (!!!) and crafters outside, although our time was limited since we'd missed the first 45 minutes. Still, wonderful crafts. Finally, dinner was served and the show began. The food was wonderful (one of my daughters even said the poi was ok!) and the show itself was mesmerizing. Fabulous and talented cast. SO fun!

This was our first Luau, and the food was really good, the show was top notch. Very entertaining. However, the female driver of the shuttle bus they run from the resorts should have kept her mouth shut instead of jokingly telling us “you all look the same to us” and that the ABC stores “aren’t for us, they’re for you, so they’re wxtra expensive”. Ha ha. Guffaw. Snort. Goodbye. Not cool.
