Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. The 45-minute main show tells the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamaku “child of the new land." Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The theatrical luau show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing.

This luau is held on the Kalamaku Plantation which was a beautiful venue. We were worried about rain since we went two days after the hurricane but it is a covered venue. The food was typical luau buffet style but there is nothing else typical about it. There were four open bar stations so there were no long lines. It was very organized and fun. The show was spectacular and enacted the polynesian trip from Tahiti to Hawaii. You won't be disappointed.

We attended the Kalamaku Luau while in Kauai with my wife's sister and husband and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We began our journey on a narrated train ride on the property and ended with a spectacular live stage experience. The buffet was very good as well. We sat up front near the action so close, that we had to back away briefly from the flames that were produced by the dancers flaming torches and batons. The show consisted of a telling of a story with different scenes leading up to the climax. The event lasted over an hour and we came away feeling very satisfied. Would recommend to anyone who has not partaken in a Luau while on the island.

My two grandsons 5 and 7 thoroughly enjoyed their first luau. The imu ceremony was awesome. Practicing hula ahead of time was great too and they loved having their pictures taken with the performers. The buffet was excellent from an adult point of view. Excellent pork, rice pudding, etc. The open bar was great. I really liked having assigned seats - and I believe all seats are good. The show was well done - a great musical drama about the history of Hawaii. i was a little disappointed not to find the variety in the hula applications during the drama. However, I definitely would recommend this one.
