Luau Kalamaku with Buffet Dinner & Show

Overview
Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. The 45-minute main show tells the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamaku “child of the new land." Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The theatrical luau show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing.

Over priced and food was very disappointing. The stage is in the center and the cast does a good job of allowing you to view their faces, but hard to understand the words, and I didnt realize you could pay more for better seats. The train ride was cute…. Narrator was good, but again sort of lame…

Food was not great, drinks very good. Early dancing and music seemed odd. Upbeat music as if they wanted you to eat quickly. Then the show started, very loud, theatrical and entertaining, made up for the poor food and early part. The room was oppressively hot. Very uncomfortable.

For one, buy the upgrade! We did and got it over 6 months in advance and we got the best table in the building. Best view of the show ever. Food…it was just ok, we didn’t starve but we didn’t pig out. They really need to boost up the desserts, very minimal and I was looking forward to it. The free drinks were great though! The train ride was worth the extra price, very pretty grounds and we like to look at trees and flowers and lots of animals, especially cute little piglets. Check out the artisans before dinner, I got a super cute Christmas ornament that I didn’t see anywhere else on a week of Kauai island. The Luau show was phenomenal! It was pretty, the costumes were authentic and great. The singing was good and the fire stuff was amazing. Worth every penny. We were sad that we couldn’t get Christmas photos with the cast but that’s ok, we got some at our beachfront hotel.
