Luau Kalamaku with Buffet Dinner & Show

Overview
Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. The 45-minute main show tells the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamaku “child of the new land." Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The theatrical luau show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing.

We did this tour as part of a cruise excursion. We were disappointed with the food. We were served pulled pork instead of a traditional roast pig. There was no poi to be had, which was confusing. The pork was so bland we had to season it with soy sauce. The lo mein was dry and tasteless and there were no food options for kids. My picky son ate rolls for dinner because he doesn’t eat pork fish or chicken thighs with teriyaki sauce. The desserts were bareboat bones and disappointing. However the dinner show made up for the lack of food! The fire dancers, the hula dancers, and the fire batons were breathtaking! The show told a historical exposition on how Hawaii was founded. Definitely go for the show but you may want to grab a bite to eat afterwards

First time at this luau. Loved the big open area for seating and the 140 year old mango tree. Loved the opportunity to buy items from locals and help support the island! Dinner was good- no poi?!?! But honestly I’m not a fan so didn’t miss it. I’d recommend the train ride be included in the price. I really liked the show, the fire dancers and that the cast was all Kauai.

It was wonderful meeting new people . My highlight was when the nicest looking performer came to pull me out to dance.
