Overview

Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. The 45-minute main show tells the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamaku “child of the new land." Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The theatrical luau show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing.

We are traveling with a 6 yr old grandson and so chose to go to just the show ( he’d never have lasted thru the whole event - train ride, dinner and the the show... and besides, a buffet is lost on a 6 yr old! ). We opted for just the show with “gold” seating ( up front seats... again for the 6 yr old) and it was perfect! The show was about an hour and a half long( 7-8:30) just the right amount of time for a six yr old to sit. It was colorful, authentic and entertaining. We all loved it! If your in Kauai and want to experience a luau show, definitely go to this one, it’s reasonably priced , a great value! AND A LOT OF FUN!

Pro: This was a wonderful, narrative-driven performance with extremely skilled dancers. Con: Food was so-so, drinks were way too strong to be enjoyable If you are looking for 'traditional" this may not be your choice - there was a lot of more modern content mixed in, but it was done in an an intrusive or discordant way.

The evening was wonderful. It was little hot at the beginning of the dinner but got cooler by the time the show began. The food was ok especially the pork. The show was A++. They did hula and fire dancing. It was a great way to end our first trip to Hawaii
