Luau Kalamaku with Buffet Dinner & Show

Overview
Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. The 45-minute main show tells the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamaku “child of the new land." Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The theatrical luau show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing.

Great times. The show and dancers were excellent. The train was a little nosiey to hear what the tour operator was saying. It was fun feeding the pigs. The food was surprisingly good.

Very excited to attend as our research indicated this would be our best choice for a luau. The performance was really terrific, particularly the female lead and the fire dancers. Lots of drinks are provided, but tended to be on the sweet side..... Food is average at best, so don't save yourself up thinking you are going to get a great traditional Hawaiian meal. If your budget allows, purchase the "Gold" tickets to have a closer view of the show - about $12 more per person..... Logistics are terrible so be fore-warned. Driving in for parking can get completely jammed due to the number of buses bringing full loads of people that have to unload before the next vehicles can unload or even get to the parking area. Also of note is the need to "check-in" even if you have pre-purchased your tickets and those lines can be quite lengthy after the buses drop off their participants. Getting out after the show is a nightmare - again the logistical and parking issues with the buses.

The train ride was very informative and the driver was personable in spite of the rain he made it a lot of fun feeding the pigs was a highlight for the children. The luau food was excellent and quite a good selection even though it was a buffet we were served basically table by table so the line was very manageable. The outstanding part of the evening was the dancing and the storytelling but most especially the dancers doing fire oh my goodness that was extraordinarily great I think this is a must do you on your vacation to the island of Kawai.
