We took the tour and Alan was our guide. He was very informative and humorous and kept things light. He gave us tons of background undying Charleston as well as the Plantation. We would recommend this tour any day.

Shawn was a very informative guide for our tour. It was hot and humid so be prepared especially with the summer coming up. The tour of the house was quite interesting. Be sure to allow about 4 hours from start to finish. Well woth seeing.

This is a lovely house and nice to look at but quite "prettied up"- not as realistic as say Boone Hall or Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. We didn't take the tour of the slave quarter but I wish we would have fora more authentic view of the period.Tractor tours are probably the best for an overall view. You have to love wildlife though. The garden tour is pretty but not suitable for people with mobility issues- neither is the house tour. It is surprising that more accomodations aren't made for people with difficulty with walking etc. since so many of the visitors seem to be seniors. Paths certainly could be made more navigable. Why not rent scooters? and put out more seating benches? The day we were there, they ran out of all food except little cups of potato salad by 2 in the afternoon- maybe some better planning? We bought our tour tickets that included the bus transportation and garden tour that left from the Visitors Centre. The driver was very pleasant and knowledgeable and arranged for both tours. That was an ideal way to get to Magnolia. Overall an okay experience.
