Manatees/Sunset/Bioluminescence Tour

Overview
Experience everything the wildlife refuge has to offer with three distinct experiences packed into one three-hour tour! Launch your kayak in the daylight and surround yourself with Florida’s most-loved endangered species, West Indian Manatees! Sit back while the gentle giants roll, sniff, and nuzzle all around you. Dolphins are also active this time of day as they wrangle their dinner in the adjacent cove.

Next, head out to Bird Island, a federally protected rookery, to watch hundreds of birds soar in overhead. Ibis, herons, egrets, pelicans, cormorants, and roseate spoonbills and more all glide in their flocks to nest for the night. Be lulled into serenity by the gently rocking kayak as the sun descends for the night in the pinks, oranges, and reds of sunset.

Finally, the tour culminates in the season’s bioluminescent experience, whether it be summer bioluminescence, winter comb jelly bioluminescence, or a star-studded moonlit sky.

Alex was our Captain this past Saturday evening and he was very knowledgeable about the area, manatees, bioluminescence. He led the group with no difficulties. It should have been called the Manatee Tour! We were near the boat ramp for 25 minutes(no sunset on the tour) and saw 15 manatees playing very close to your kayaks. It was so much fun. The bioluminescence portion was excellent as well. Alex gave us different things to do with our hands under water and then had us take our hands out of the water and the water droplets were glowing in the dark.

An awesome experience. Mark and Brandon were excellent guides. Knowledgeable and really friendly. We saw 4 dolphins, loads of manatees, gators, ospreys, a lovely sunset and great bioluminescent waters. My 8YO shared a double kayak and participated a little in paddling. He loved the experience. Especially being able to see NASA. I would definitely recommend this experience for lots of great memories.

This tour was AMAZING and absolutely a must! Alex and Troy were knowledgeable, fun guides who were focused on our safety and making sure we maximized our experience. The manatees were plenty and conditions were really great for all of the awesome bioluminescence! Very family friendly with a mix of all ages on our tour. Everything was great!
