We did a group tour of Astoria Queens through an NYU explore New York program. It was a great tour, the guide was very informative on the neighbourhoods historical background as well as cultural insights. He highlighted some great places and was able to give us nice recommendations for next time. Got to get a taste of different greek snacks and flavours, as well as talk briefly to some locals! Well-paced, very personal and friendly walking tour. Would recommend it for those who want a convenient access to and knowledge of areas around New York, but don't like very touristy rushed tours.

I recently moved to the city and booked the Manhattan tour to learn more about New York City. We had David as our guide and he was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable about the city, flexible and hilarious! He was so entertaining that he made our 6-hour tour feel like 3! We hit Harlem, Greenwich, East Village, Noho, Soho, the financial district, Little Italy and Chinatown. Unlike hop on, hop off buses, he shared unique details about the city and the various sites that you normally wouldn't get in large tours. It was an excellent introduction to the city!

My daughter and I recently had 2 weeks in New York - our first visit. Our first walking tour with Streetwise (Dan) took us from our hotel in Midtown down to Lower East Side where we were introduced to the area where most migrants to NY settled, then on through Chinatown and up in to Little Italy. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Dan was a mine of information about the history of the areas we walked through, the changes in migrant flows and the changes that followed in the areas. He took us to parts of the city we would not have otherwise seen and was most helpful with tips for getting around and where to eat. We enjoyed it so much we signed up for another walking tour to Chelsea, walking some of the HighLine and into the Meat Packing District and Greenwich Village. This time we had Dan and also Andrew to guide us - we split into 2 groups. again both Dan and Andrew had lots of information on the history of the areas we walked through and pointed us to great eating spots and bars and clubs that may be of interest. We covered a lot of ground and felt we had a really good feel for the different areas of Manhattan we had seen on these tours. All the recommendations worked out well - we would absolutely recommend Streetwise New York Tours to other travelers. Dan & Andrew are obviously passionate about their city and that enthusiasm was infectious. So pleased we did the tours.
