Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

Best experience of our Hawaii trip and possibly highlight of my 20 year travels to Hawaii. Very knowledgeable crew. Short boat trip to the lights and very short swim to the light platform. I was shocked at how large the Mantas were. We got to see Bertha and they said she is about 15 feet wide. Fascinating and a magical experience.

It was hard to breathe via mouth gor the first time. I got chocked. So was it was difficult for me to hold on go pro and valance. The guide did not give me chance to stabilize immediately he dragged me to boat do I messed the opportunity to experience they did not warn us when we are at the boat very sad . The guide makes six trips for that day and he doesn’t have any tolerance level if you can’t float immediately you are out that was very sad . The duration seems to be short . Your warning is split of a second. I was trying stabilize all I needed was 20- 30 seconds it’s very sad he did not give me that opportunity. I recommend you to check your snorkel gears . And I recommend you take your own. U you oh get that from Costco at 40$ . If you are good at snorkeling o recommend this place but not for beginners.

This customer was not able to swim, and we require that all customers can swim at least 25 yards comfortably in the ocean without a life jacket. Since the customer could not swim, he was panicking and kicked a manta ray, which is why we took him back to the boat. If you can't swim, we will take you back to the boat to avoid endangering yourself and our staff. Kicking manta rays is not only illegal, but it also ruins the show for the rest of the group because manta rays tend to leave when they are bothered. We do not have tolerance for people who kick manta rays or endanger them in any way, and customers will be immediately escorted to the boat in that scenario. Also, our snorkel gear is high-quality and far superior to a $40 set at Costco. I wouldn't trust advice on snorkel equipment from someone who doesn't know how to swim or breathe through a snorkel. If you can not swim, you can always watch the show from the boat, but we can not allow you in the water. If we notice that you can't swim while you are in the water, you will be escorted back to the boat. We should not receive bad reviews for following common-sense policies, and this review should be deleted.
