Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

An incredible experience! My family and I saw at least 10 mantas swimming under and up to us. Once in a lifetime... or maybe more. We'll see! Hunter and Captain Jason were knowledgable and entertaining. A great team. I couldn't recommend this experience, or this company, more.

On Oct.11,2021 I joined Hawaii Oceanic for the night snorkel and it was amazing, at one point there were at least 7 mantas swimming with us doing their magical aerobatics/waterbatics(?). Hunter and Justin took great care of everybody in the group, there were 12 of us. Hunter knew his stuff and was really great with one person who was not particularly comfortable in the water, I would join Hawaii Oceanic if I was to do this again.

Justin, Taylor and Brent made this experience easy and extremely memorable. We had about 7-8 Manta Rays swim around us for the hour tour. The Rays got within an inch or less to your face. The largest ray was 12ft from wing tip to wing tip, AMAZING!!! For those like me who are nervous about ocean water, you are very close to shore, the guides are in the water with you and the boat ride was 3 minutes long. One thing I didn’t expect was the needle fish poking you a few times while floating (doesn’t hurt just a little ocean life surprise). The water was about 76 degrees and I would recommend the wet suit; I got cold the last 10 minutes. For half the trip I captured GoPro videos the other half I sat back and just watched. The reviews aren’t kidding when they say it is the top activity to do on the Big Island! Would do again.
