Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview

Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

This tour was AWESOME. 10/10 the highlight of my trip. Let me preface this by saying I am not a great ocean swimmer - I have snorkeled before, but never at night, so that aspect added to my nerves a bit. All nervousness was gone the moment I got on the boat though! Captain Justin and our guide Keyoki were so welcoming - they were very knowledgable, personable, and all around great people. I also love that this company cares for the wellbeing of the animals they work with. They make sure to explain why no one should touch the manta rays, and take extra precautions to make sure the boat wouldn't endanger the gentle giants either. We were among the first in the water (after watching a beautiful sunset) and within minutes we had our first sighting - then it was one after another! We saw so many different rays (some of whom our guides new by name, which was cool). We left the water just as it was getting quite crowded with other tours - I doubt any of them had the incredible show we did though. I would absolutely recommend this tour for everyone - they're family-friendly, supportive, and have plenty of options (wetsuits, pool noodles, etc.) to help you have a comfortable and safe experience with the mantas. If I'm ever back in Hawaii I will definitely have their tour on my list of things to do again!

Brent and Justin did a great job on our Manta Ray snorkel trip. Aaron did a great job signing us in and getting our wetsuits all ready. Their equipment was top notch and with several groups in the water the Mantas just hung around us. I think it’s because of the lights that they have on their board. Definitely go with this geoup if you want to see these amazing rays. We highly recommend this tour and this operator.
