Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview

Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We had a fantastic time! Dylan and the Captain were awesome, entertaining and super helpful. The previous tour ran a bit late and I received notification by both text and email that we were delayed by 15 mins and therefore would have 15 mins added to our tour. We saw SO MANY mantas! It was amazing! Definitely highly recommend! Also the boat ride back had an incredible view of the stars and the green “sparks” (phosphorescence) in the spray from the boat. They provided snacks, beverages and took photos which we were told would be posted on facebook in the next couple weeks. One of the highlights of our trip :)

Surf was up -- and most other boats were in for the night -- but our captain found a protected spot where we could safely float with the nightlight. Within a few minutes three mantas were dancing below us -- only a few feet away -- feeding and twirling. Was epic! A bit cold but worth it!

We felt immediately in fun and capable hands! They truly cared about us having an amazing experience - and we DID!!! We saw THREE Manta Rays who kept doing their beautiful ballet right under us; but if you don't see one on your trip, they let you come back any time complimentary. Everyone on our boat were happy and excited, and the rain did not stop us at all. A must do experience with this group!
