Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

Thanks Hawaiian Oceanic for an amazing experience. Very friendly captain and crew, smaller group, well equipped with accessories and wet suit, snacks and drinks. Enjoyed snorkeling with the manta rays and this was a mineable experience! Would certainly recommend!

As you can imagine, being in the sea at night, and snorkeling, can be a little bit nerve racking. Our tour guides, Chad & Chad, explained very clearly exactly what we were going to do, as well as gave us helpful factoids on what to expect and just about manta rays in general. The boat ride at night is a treat on its own - you can see the stars, and the agitation from the boat brings to life bioluminescent plankton. When you get to the site, you're just a few hundred yards off shore, which is a reassuring. The mantas are spectacular, they twirl and flip inches from your face, it's startling but mesmerizing. You can also see lots of needlefish and the coral below. Can't imagine having an experience anywhere else - they were so fun, told us all about the island, offered snacks and complimentary photos, and showed us a great time!

This was one of the best things we did during our time in Hawaii. It was a relatively small group. On the way to the Manta ready spot we saw some dolphins and humpback whales. They did a good job giving some facts about Manta Ray's in the wild. The Manta Ray's got really close to us and was an exciting experience. My sister was a little apprehensive about snorkeling but they got her a life jacket and a pool noodle which made her feel really secure. Highly recommend Hawaii Oceanic!
