Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

Our crew of nine, ages 8-48, all loved snorkeling with the Mantas. Dusty and Chad made sure we had the experience of a lifetime, and even worked hard to make sure the less comfortable swimmers had a great show. Truly epic! One manta was within inches of touching me. Safe, friendly, fun! Definitely do this if you’re going to the big island!

My 17 year old and I did the Manta Ray night snorkel, and I just can't say enough about the experience. The guys (Dusty and Dillon) were AWESOME from check in to goodbyes. We saw many Rays, and they particularly liked our board it seemed:-) these creatures are stunningly beautiful, and when they swim inches from your face, it is truly awe inspiring. I recommend this trip to anybody going to Hawaii, and I truly recommend this company. Oh, and bring some cash. Of course tipping is optional, but I assure you that these guys are worth it.

I am a nervous person by nature. A small boat trip at night? In the middle of the ocean? That right there makes me nervous. But I love mantas, I think they're gorgeous and have always wanted to see them and so, I decided to face my fears. People do this every day, I did my research, it seemed safe. (Speaking of research, this is one of only a handful of companies on the 'Green List' for Manta tours! Super important to me!) From the moment I got to the office, the awesome staff put me at ease. Jason and Dylan were hilarious, good-natured, and welcoming. I immediately felt like I could let go of the nerves. We were on the dive later in the evening (7:30 pm), which was great because as we arrived at the dive spot, all the sunset tours were leaving. Before we even got in the water, we saw a manta. We all got in the water and held onto a floating board and the show began. We saw 15 mantas, they were swooping all around us, coming mere inches from my face. It was seriously one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my life. You just have to do this! Hawaii Oceanic cares about their passengers and they care about being sustainable and protecting Hawaii's amazing natural resources. I will recommend them to everyone I know. Now whenever I get nervous, I think about swooping mantas.
