Overview

Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

This family run business masterfully operates a a 27 foot vessel (the Pueo Kai 2) with a maximum of 12 participants to see the wonders of the Manta Rays in Keauhou Bay. This smaller group allows for much more personalized attention. You depart from Keauhou Harbor after being provided an optional wetsuit top and required ankle floats, and a concise and entertaining safety briefing. The USCG Certified Captain and his extremely knowledgable and accommodating deck/water hands take you on a very short (5 to 10 minute) trip to the manta grounds, while briefing you on what to do and expect. You are quickly in the water holding a downward lighted float, awaiting the arrival of the mantas. With a 92% success rate for manta arrival, your odds for a sighting are very good. On our trip, four different mantas made several passes under us. This is truly a “Do Not Miss” excursion.

We did a lot of tours and this one was totally worth the price. The experience was fantastic and they didn’t charge extra for a wetsuit like other tours. The crew was great and very knowledgeable and accommodating. The Manta-rays we saw were huge, way bigger than expected but not as plentiful as imagined. Still way kool and a rare experience I highly recommend! 🤙

Amazing huge gentle giant manta rays swim so close you could touch them (but not allowed to). Our guide Hunter was very capable and knowledgeable!
