Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview

Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Hawaii. We knew Night Snorkel with Manta Rays was the number one excursion, but didn’t know much about it. Our tour guy Chase from Kona Snorkel Tour told us not to miss the experience so we booked it for 9:40pm. Unbelievable!!! It’s a short excursion…45 mins in and out. They are very well organized. Hunter was our tour guide and he was the best! He’s very passionate about what he does and knows a lot about manta rays. He made it a very enjoyable and fun experience. The manta rays come right up to you and it’s something we will never forget. Don’t miss it!!!

This is an awesome small group experience. The folks involved are very helpful, knowledgeable and do everything they can to ensure a great experience. We saw four mantas do the flips and pass at arms length. Finding the mantas turned out to be way easier than finding the van to check-in at 8:30 pm.

Our family of 6 loved this tour! It was short and sweet. The boat ride was short (3 of us get very motion sick). Staff was amazing. Seeing the rays was incredible. This tour is truly suitable for anyone and is unlike anything we have ever done before. The only very small negative was that we did get cold towards the end. So much fun!
