Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

Great team, a lot of fun. Fantastic experience. Looking at photos or videos dont mean anything, really. You only understand how amazing this is once you do it.

We were so excited for this. It ended up being an extremely choppy night. As soon as I got in the water I thought, "Crap, I forgot to take dramamine!" I was right to worry. We were banging into each other as we held on to the board. I was holding on with one hand and filming with the other and maybe that made it worse. Seeing the rays was awesome. They are graceful, beautiful creatures. Of the 11 people on our excursion, 6 got sick. Some were throwing up in the water, some, like me, on the boat afterward. It was kind of awful. I'm glad I did it, but I would not do it again unless it was an extremely calm night and I took plenty of dramamine first. It felt a bit rushed as this company did 4 different tours that night. With all the other companies doing tours it's a bit crazy out there. Justin and Hunter did their best, it was just a rough night. If it's on your bucket list, do it. Just be warned and ready.

Our mind was blown on this tour. We wore snorkel gear, and about 12 of us held onto a surfboard, while the guide dropped plankton below us. The boat had bottom lights so we could see the rays. We saw several, and they moved and turned and fed right next to us. Truly awe-inspiring.
