Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

I had a great time and saw 3 THREE manta rays up close. It was a very choppy ride (but super short to get out there). I, and some others, ended up throwing up while snorkeling so, don't eat before hand. Still, it's the best time I've had that involved being sea sick.

Unbelievable experience! Huge manta rays swimming inches from you. The staff was terrific. Same companies have 40+ people together but this company has 12 max so way better!! You get fitted with a wet suit top and ankle floats on the shore then you get onto boat for a short 5 min ride. They give you snorkel gear and then you hop off the back of boat and swim a short distance to a lighted board. Not going to lie, little freaky going into the ocean at night but there’s several other boats and people in the area so that helps. My biggest recommendation is practice snorkeling before you do this. I had a hard time not panicking at first but after a few minutes I got the breathing down and hung onto the board and next thing you know there’s giant manta rays swimming right at you. We saw 6. It’s amazing and a must do thing in Hawaii. Best part of our trip and we did almost everything Hawaii offers. They let you stay in the water for plenty of time to get your thrill of the experience. It’s amazing how graceful the mantas rays are. They barrel roll right under the board like there showing off. Dont freak out. It’ll seem like there going to run right into you but they just want you to get an up close and personal experience without harming you. We’ll worth every penny we spent!

This experience and the people I met on this trip turned my good for nothing vacation into paradise! Big thank you for Lexy, who was a phenomenal host and did a great job introducing the group to the experience. On the boat were Justin (captain) and Hunter (swimmer) waiting for us. They are incredibly enthusiastic and professional. Had a lot of knowledge and were able to get us in the water fast and safe. Boat ride was only 5 minutes. I felt privileged to be part of this small group of swimmers, whereas other big boats with dozens of people arrived shortly after us. We had to wait a bit but the mantas for sure came by. I absolutely recommend going on this tour if you are in Kona, but especially recommend going with Hawaii Oceanic. They really made this experience. If you are still thinking about booking ; stop. Just do it. You will forever remember this. P.s take a camera to film. Is better than pictures. Proof below
