This is an interesting museum, but in my opinion not worth the trouble right now. Hall monitor muzzle watchers constantly patrolling the museum harassing customers. If you aren’t wearing the mask up to your eyeballs, (literally), you will be called out like a third grade student.

A museum may not be the top of your list of things to do in Key West, but I would definitely recommend you take the time to visit the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum and make sure you take the laboratory/behind the scenes tour. Seriously, it is worth every minute of your time. The museum is well put together with wonderful information about the Atocha on the main floor and then covers pirates and the slave trade and the impact on Key West. It was all very interesting, but getting to speak to one of the archeologists and actually see the work they are doing, and how they do it is truly one of the best parts of this small museum. It was probably the most favorite thing we did while there.
