OMG!!! This is excursion was my favorite, definitely for one for the books. We had Spencer pick us up in town and met up with Grant at the canoe. We suited up at the canoe and made our way through the heavy winds to the glacier. We had a great team and was able to make it there quickly. Walking along and in the glacier was beautiful. Since the glacier is constantly melting no one will ever see exactly what you saw and walked on. I would totally do this again! Sadly it probably will be gone in the years to come, so catch it while you still can.

We love the "must do" reviews! The Mendenhall Glacier is one of the most visited glaciers in Alaska, but only a very, very small percentage of people actually get to see it up close and personal. Walking on a glacier is an experience you will never forget. Thank you!

I made a TripAdvisor account just to write this review, that's how good it was. From beginning to end this tour was fantastic and I can't recommend it enough. Our tour guides (Ben and Grant) were great! They were very knowledgeable and friendly and provided pointers to those of us who felt a little unsure of themselves on the glacier. They gave us plenty of instruction on how to properly use our gear and get the most out our time. All the gear was provided (rain pants, waterproof shell, rain boots, crampons, walking sticks, helmets, neoprene gloves, and a dry bag with a water bottle and some snacks), but depending on the weather, I would bring a scarf, cap, and a winter coat. If you're worried about the amount of rowing to get to and from the glacier, don't be. With the amount of people in the canoe, it's not a ton of hard work (but teamwork is important) and the time passes quickly (they provided several breaks both to and from to rest our muscles). If you want to see the blueness of the glacier, then try and do this tour when it's going to rain. You won't even notice the rain when you're on the glacier. On our tour we got to explore an ice cave, go under an ice bridge, and hike up to several vistas. This was a once in a lifetime trip that I'm so glad we did!

As many others have already stated, this was the highlight of our trip. Ben & Joey were great guides, and if you are booking this through Liquid Alaska, you are supporting small business instead of the cruiseline. Don't think about it, just do it. You won't be disappointed.
